Your County. Your Government. Your Voice.

Nothing decided without You.

My Commitment to Returning the County to the People

Michael David Nash believes that public service means open service. Every decision, every budget, and every policy should be accessible, understandable and open to criticism by the People of Cleveland County.

Public Comment

Every item on an agenda needs to be open to public comment. Not just actionable items, but items intended for Discussion are especially important times for the public to voice their opinions. Those items are literally intended to discuss upcoming decisions, and to prohibit the People from contributing to the discussion is recasting the Discussion item into theater.

Transparency isn’t just a promise, it’s a practice. By fostering open communication and providing regular updates, I will ensure residents are always informed and involved — the way it was SUPPOSED to be.

– Michael Nash

What does it look like to lose control of your own government? It’s seeing their actions after they’ve done them. It’s seeing that the most consequential actions are to your detriment. And when you decide to tolerate no more, it’s seeing that you’re not allowed to speak. It’s where we are with our County Commissioners, and the reason I’ll be on the ballot to challenge the present regime. “If elected, I’ll never deny a citizen the chance to voice their opinion during meetings. I believe that meetings in which the discussion of future items are the only goal are the most important meetings to invite public opinion – when there’s enough time to process the thoughts and opinions of the public and to make a better decision when the item is up for action. When our commissioners denied our involvement, they sent the clear message that they are uninterested in our input. If you believe that the people should control the government, and not the other way around, I humbly request your support for my campaign.”
